GTPS cloud
GTPS cloud hosting for your Growtopia private server
Cloud GTPS hosting runs your Growtopia private server on remote Linux infrastructure rather than on your own computer. The server exists independently of whether your PC is on, and you manage it from a browser.
What cloud GTPS hosting means
“Cloud” in this context means one specific thing: the server is not on your computer. It runs on a Linux machine in a data centre, and you reach it over the internet. Your computer becomes a client, exactly like every other player’s.
That distinction explains most of what follows:
- It runs when you do not. Your PC can be off, asleep, on mobile data, or on holiday.
- It is not limited by your connection. How many players can join is a property of the server, not of your home upload speed.
- It is managed from a browser. Console, files, plugins and settings are a web panel, so any device with a browser can administer it.
- It scales by plan. More memory and disk when the server outgrows its current tier, rather than a faster computer.
Cloud compared to your own PC
Both approaches run the same software and the same world. The difference is entirely about reliability and who is responsible for keeping it alive.
- Uptime
- A PC server exists only while that PC is on, awake and connected. A cloud server is unaffected by your hardware, your sleep settings and your internet.
- Player capacity
- A PC server is capped by your upload bandwidth and competes with the game you are playing. A cloud server is capped by its own resources and yours.
- Reach
- Hosting on your PC means exposing your home IP to everyone you invite. A cloud server has a single address your players use instead.
- Management
- Local means FTP clients, text editors and terminal restarts. Cloud means a console and an editor in the same browser tab as the server.
- Cost
- A PC server costs your electricity and a machine that is already there. Cloud costs a plan, and buys back the machine's time.
Running on your own PC is not a wrong choice. It is the fastest way to see a private server working at all, and it is genuinely fine for a small group on a good connection. The question is whether the server is for people who are not you. If it is, the beginner guide walks through both routes honestly.
Why uptime is the whole point
Players do not evaluate a private server on its features first. They evaluate whether it was there when they logged in.
A server on your own machine is coupled to your machine. It stops for updates, for Windows deciding to restart at 3am, for a dropped connection, for a router that needs rebooting, and for the week you are away. Each of those is a moment where everyone who came to play finds a dead world.
A cloud server is not immune to problems, but the failure modes are different ones: hardware is maintained by the host, network delivery is the host’s problem rather than yours, and you can read a restart in the console instead of finding out when someone tells you the server is down.
The GTPS hosting page covers the management side in more detail, including backups and the live console.
Moving an existing server across
If you already have a private server, it is normally just files. A world, its configuration, and any plugins you have written are ordinary files, and they move across as ordinary files.
The usual sequence is:
- Stop the old server cleanly so its world file is written and not half-saved.
- Create the server on the new host and note its connection details.
- Upload the world and configuration through the panel’s file manager, or replace the defaults with your own.
- Reinstall your plugins and check the console for load errors — plugin versions often differ between hosts.
- Reconnect your players using the new address, via the connection guide.
Plan for a short gap. Tell your players the address is changing, and expect the first connection attempt to fail for anyone on mobile until their hosts file is updated.
What you can run on it
A FyreflyHost server is a standard Growtopia private server, with the features community servers normally have:
- Custom items and blocks, with definitions and textures uploaded through the panel.
- Lua plugins, edited and reloaded in the browser without a full restart.
- World files you build yourself or install from the community marketplace.
- NPCs, quests and your own progression, defined in your world and plugin files.
- Configuration backups, so a change that breaks something is not terminal.
Custom item and texture uploads are included from the Pro plan upward. The free plan is deliberately smaller, so it is honest to describe it as a way to learn the panel rather than to run a content-heavy server.
Managing it from any device
The panel is a web app, which sounds like a small detail until the first time you fix something from your phone. A server problem at an inconvenient hour is a much smaller problem when the fix does not require a desk.
Read the console, change a plugin value, restart, and confirm from the log that the change took. All from the same tab, on a phone, over mobile data. Nothing to install and nothing to keep up to date.
Start with the plans, or read the private server hosting page for the plan details and billing.
Questions people ask
Short answers to the things people usually want to know before they start a server.
- What does cloud GTPS hosting mean?
- Cloud GTPS hosting means your Growtopia private server runs on remote Linux infrastructure instead of your own computer. Because the server lives in a data centre, it keeps running while your PC is off, and you can reach the control panel from a phone, tablet or any browser.
- Is a cloud private server better than running one on my PC?
- For anything you share with other people, yes. A PC-hosted server stops the moment you close the laptop or lose internet, and it depends on your upload speed. A cloud server stays up independently and is reachable by your whole community at once.
- Can I move an existing private server to FyreflyHost?
- Upload your server files through the panel's file manager, or bring your worlds and custom items across. If you are coming from a local setup you built yourself, the world files and configuration move across as normal files.
- What can I run on a FyreflyHost server?
- A standard Growtopia private server with custom items, custom blocks, Lua plugins, NPCs and world files. The panel includes a Lua editor, a file manager, a community marketplace for worlds and plugins, and server backups.
